Clear Cincom telecom Projects with Kapsch Carrier Com
Optimization and Acceptance measurement of first Hungarian GSM-R radio access network
In a particularly complex technical and political environment, Clear CinCom helped Kapsch Carrier Com with the optimization and acceptance of the first GSM-R radio access network for the Hungarian railway operator MAV. Various verification, tuning and other activities related to the radio network were carried out on the service areas Main line, Shunting areas, Connecting lines, Indoor locations and a predefined bandwidth around the track zone. The network is used for both voice and ETCS level 2 data, for which reliable access with a Quality of Service compliant to the international standards needed to be retained at normal operational and high travelling speeds. Full redundancy was achieved through an A-flex core network and BTS-R architecture comprising remote radio heads operating in both the GSM-R as well as the extended GSM-R frequency band. The technical environment was complex, as the Budapest ring area is subjected to heavy interference from commercial public land mobile network operators (PLMN). The political environment was complicated too, given the fact that it was controlled by multiple stakeholders. The national railway operator MAV, the infrastructure ministry NISZ, the Notified Body (NoBo) that was to ensure international certification for cross-border transportation, the EU observer (the project was financed by the EU) as well as an independent engineering company were all overseeing the project.
Optimization and acceptance of line E30
The E30 line between Legnica and the German border is the first GSM-R enabled railway line in Poland. The line requires double layer coverage to provide redundancy of radio access, using BTSs and BSCs. The design was made by Kapsch Carrier Com, while Clear CinCom was responsible for optimization and acceptance. In order to be future-proof, the line was built in line with the specifications of ETCS level 2 (more specifically, the Subset093 specifications and O-2475 KPI-indicators).
Spanish Galician high speed railway benchmarked
Clear CinCom benchmarked the 88 kilometer long Galician High Speed Line from Ourense to Santiago de Compostella in Spain. The line has recently been upgraded with full GSM-R compatibility and Clear CinCom was asked to independently verify the key performance indicators of the network.
Clear CinCom is often called on by larger consultancies and suppliers who need to independently demonstrate the security and reliability of their networks to governments and railway operators.
Radio cell planning, model tuning and design on various Austrian railway lines
Austria is challenging country radio network planners, due to its unique topography. The Alpes mountain range requires numerous tunnels and the relief itself is a source of interference. Austria’s railway operator ÖBB wished to switch their old analogue radio network to a proper GSM-R setup and contracted Kapsch Carrier Com as their vendor. Working closely with Kapsch, Clear CinCom provided the cell planning, model tuning and design for a number of lines in the Austrian railway network, enabling Kapsch to meet their schedule.
