Analysis for entire Dutch GSM-R radio access network
After successfully providing a detailed analysis of the GSM-R radio access network performance of the Northern part of The Netherlands and presenting the results to Dutch railway infrastructure provider ProRail, Clear CinCom has been asked to perform a similar series of analyses on the entire radio network covering the railway system of the country.
Clear CinCom recently completed an independent verification of the radio access network performance in the Northern region of The Netherlands, verifying against various specifications related to the GSM-R radio access network performance. Amongst default EIRENE SRS and FRS requirements, metrics like carrier to interference ratio, coverage, handover success rate and specific ETCS L2 Subset093 KPIs were analysed. Using a newly in-house created bespoke system for presenting problem areas in the radio network, Clear CinCom could point out all weak spots with all required details. This allowed ProRail to take targeted action and improve the quality of the GSM-R network, while minimizing costs.
After Clear CinCom finalized this so called weak spot analysis for the Northern region, the company has been asked to conduct a similar series of analyses for the regions West, East, South and Central.
GSM for Railways (GSM-R) is a developing international standard that should contribute to a safer, more efficient and customer-friendly public transportation. In The Netherlands, the entire railway network is covered by GSM-R.
